SAEINDIA Managing Committee Re-Election 2024-26

Dear SAEINDIA Member,
Warm Greetings!
As you are aware, SAEINDIA Managing Committee decided to conduct election for 13 vacancies in the Open Category and receive nominations from the Section Chairs for 7 vacancies in the Nomination Category for the Managing Committee to run the affairs of SAEINDIA during the period 2024-26 and thereafter the Election Notice was issued on 16th Oct 2024. However, SAEINDIA Managing Committee has recently passed a resolution in the meeting held on 11th November 2024 to cancel the election process due to administrative reasons and conduct re-election.
Extracts of the Eligibility criteria to contest and participate in the election as per the Byelaws are attached at Appendix ‘A’. Further, SAEINDIA Members who were on rolls as on 30th Sep 2024 alone are eligible to contest and participate in the election. All members should indicate their membership numbers.
The following election timetable shall be followed.

Hard copies of Nomination forms (both Open Category and Section Nominee) are available in the SAEINDIA office at 1/17, Ceebros Arcade, 3rd Cross, Kasturbanagar, Chennai 600 020. The forms can also be obtained from the Chairman/Secretary of the Sections or downloaded from the website https://saeindia.org/saeindia-election/
The duly filled Hard copy of nomination form should be sent to SAEINDIA office at 1/17, Ceebros Arcade, 3rd cross, Kasturbanagar, Chennai – 600 020 in order to reach on or before 23rd Dec 2024 (Monday), 5.00 PM through post or courier or by person.

Appendix ‘A’
ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA TO CONTEST / PARTICIPATE IN SAEINDIA MC ELECTION 2024-26
As per the bye-laws of SAEINDIA, only Fellow, Honorary and Members are eligible to contest and vote in the Election of the Members of the Managing Committee. Associate, Affiliate and Student members cannot participate in the election process including proposing and seconding a nominee. Similarly, Past Presidents cannot contest but can propose or second a nominee and also vote.
By-law Clause 9.3a Section Representation :
SAEINDIA being a Pan India society, the representation from each section is a MUST. In view to have Quality representation, each section will be represented by Nominated and Open category members in SAEINDIA MC.
Nominated Representatives: Nominated Representatives will be as per area spread of the section. For example, as per the area spread, Northern, Southern and Western sections can have two representatives each and Bangalore one as section nominated member in SAEINDIA MC. The total of nominated members thus comes to 7. By default the Immediate Past Chairman of each section is nominated for SAEINDIA MC. The other/s will be as per the qualification of the MC member specified below. An Associate or Affiliate member will not be considered.
Open category Members: As per Bye law 9.2, the full Managing Committee composition totals to 20 excluding immediate Past President. Thus the open category to be elected for SAEINDIA MC will be 13. This number (to be filled in SAEINDIA MC from the sections ) depends on the proportion of its average total numbers of All India Professional members (i.e Members/Associate members and Affiliate members) during the existing team’s term, which is roughly 22 months when election procedure starts. The election candidature forms will have to be recommended by any Management Committee (MC) member of the section from where the candidate contests.”
By-law 9.3.b Qualification of the nominees and the contestants :
The selection of the nominee or the candidate to be an MC member will be based on their past contribution and future commitment to SAEINDIA. The candidate should have served for a minimum four years in a section in the capacity of a member of the Section Managing Committee/ sub-committee. Or already is/was in SAEINDIA MC or contributed to the Mobility community. The candidate’s activity with SAE International will also be considered within this.
Bylaw 10.3 delineates the terms of office as follows:
No member except the Senior Vice President, who is the President-elect for the next term can be elected to serve as a member of the managing committee continuously at a stretch beyond four terms of two years each. Others can serve continuously at a stretch only for a maximum period of four terms of two years each. However, after a break he/she can be a member of the managing committee again for four terms and so on.
