Dear SAEINDIA Members,
Warm Greetings!
SAEINDIA through its activities is committed to serve the Indian mobility fraternity (Automotive, Off-Highway, and Aerospace). SAEINDIA in its 25 years has been serving a vast community of engineers from the Mobility Industry, Academia, and Engineering students. It has been an immense pleasure to be a part of this momentous journey & and I humbly accept the responsibility of leading this great organization in service of Mobility.
Over the last 25 years, the Indian manufacturing industry has shifted focus from predominantly serving the domestic market to becoming a global mobility solution provider. Today, Indian OEMs and component manufacturers are world-class in every respect. Top international automobile OEMs and Technology suppliers have set up their Global R&D centers in India and are exporting products & and services to the world. The Indian Automobile industry is growing exponentially - the 2nd largest manufacturer of 2-wheelers, the 3rd largest truck manufacturer, the 4th largest passenger car manufacturer, and the largest manufacturer of 3-wheelers and tractors. Leading global giants in Commercial and Defense aviation have set up R&D centers in the country and India is fast becoming a preferred destination for Aircraft & Aircraft parts manufacturing.
India is entering `Amritkaal’- becoming a developed nation with an estimated GDP of US $40 Trillion by 2047 and achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2070. The Sky is the limit for the mobility industry, but it should lead the way through products and services that are carbon neutral. Advances in Electronics, Software, and Artificial Intelligence make Connected and autonomous vehicles a reality but with cyber security as the key risk. India’s geographic and economic diversity is a reality that cannot be ignored when it comes to providing clean and safe but affordable mobility to its vast population. India needs to follow a “Technology Agnostic Approach” and should work on developing solutions relevant to this diverse consumer base. India needs to focus on technologies that take us step by step to the target of carbon neutrality by 2070 through the upgradation of ICE, expansion of alternate fuel solutions, and electrification of Powertrains via Hybrids and EVs. Also, there is a need to develop cost-effective, environment-friendly, and autonomous farm mechanization to suit the needs of small farmers.
SAEINDIA is uniquely placed to support the growth of the mobility ecosystem. Our professional members drawn from the industry and academia constitute a vast resource of knowledge in all areas of mobility. Our collegiate events like BAJA, SUPRA, TIFAN, EFFICYCLE, AEROTHON, and AERODESIGN take student members out of the classroom and allow them to apply textbook theories to real-world experiences. Our student membership is a deep pool of talent that will form the backbone of the mobility industry in the future.
SAEINDIA is well-known for its various focused national and international conferences and highly respected for the quality of its professional development programs. Going forward, SAEINDIA needs to make efforts to further expand and upgrade our offerings to include futuristic technologies in line with the growing needs of the mobility industry.
My compliments to the SAEINDIA members for tirelessly working to make SAEINDIA as the India’s most respected and trusted source of knowledge for the Mobility Industry.
Best Wishes,
C.V. Raman
